Background and Experience
Paul has legal as well as accounting qualifications. He began his career with the Taxation Department, working for a total of 10 years in the technical departments of Assessing, Investigations and Appeals. He left in 1976 to join a mid-sized Chartered Accounting firm, Greenwood Challoner where he spent the next 3 years before establishing his own firm, Paul Pellarini &Co.
Because of his legal background, during the economic downturn in the early 90’s Paul established a strong and lasting relationship with a number of well-known and highly regarded insolvency firms. These relationships prove very beneficial whenever the economy experiences a downturn.
Commercial Associates was established in 2005 when Paul and Fleming decided to go into partnership by acquiring a similar sized Chartered Accounting practice, Brailey, Fenton, Lane & Co.
Paul uses his theoretical and practical experience to provide quality advice no matter how unique the client’s situation or needs – an example: raising of equity capital, whether it be for the purposes of expansion or to commercialise a new idea.
With almost 50 years’ experience in the industry, Paul is able to relate to all clients requesting his services. His advice is practical, relevant and individually tailored to each client’s needs. The confidence and expertise he has gained in every facet of the profession provides great comfort to the clients that he deals with and, as already mentioned, his experience extends to raising seed capital for start-up businesses and helping them become investment ready for further capital raisings or IPO’s.
Away from Work
Paul is a big believer in keeping active. He jogs and attends the gym on a regular basis which helps to keep him healthy, fit and young for his age. He is an avid reader, his tastes are eclectic and encompass fiction, non-fiction, technical, short stories, essays – pretty much every genre except poetry, the charms of which have so far eluded him.
Most of his life has been lived in the inner city and for the last 20 years he has lived in the heart of the Sydney CBD because he likes the fact it is always full of life and activity.
